Question for local_frame

Hello! I'm a little confused about the local_frame parameter option: what exactly does it do? Why does it give a little performance boost to the model? I read your paper carefully, but maybe I missed something. I hope I can get your answer!

Hi,

local_frame is used to allow the rotation of control points to influence the positions of Gaussians within the control points' local frame. Compared to controlling Gaussian translation purely through the translation of the control points, local_frame ensures that a node at the root of an arm can control the Gaussians at the end of the arm during rotation. Without local_frame, control points would need to be distributed evenly across the target shape to achieve full control. Using local_frame significantly improves the quality of the DNeRF jumpingjack scene where two arms rotate heavily.
