Can't use FileSync

I haven't been using VS Code for very long, but FileSync doesn't have usable instructions.  It has a bunch of snippets of code I'm supposed to put somewhere before I can sync files, but it doesn't tell me where to put them.  It also doesn't say how to make a sync happen.  It is entirely unusable with the current instructions.
