M-Bus integration for heat meter

is it possible to integrate an M-Bus master interface to connect a heat-meter like sensostar?

M-Bus requires a special physical interface which also supplies galvanically isolated power (36V) to the meter interfaces via the 2 wire data lines..
This part can be handled by a Gateway but then still the decoding of the M-Bus telegrams need to be handled .
Frnakly I believe this might be too complicated. I personally use a Gateway M-Bus - Modbus ( Anybus ) for maximum flexibility since it automatically finds the m-bus devices and decodes them

Hi Jürgen,
the hardware interface (with a 5v to 30v stepup) for a mbus master is linked and available for 9€ on aliexpress or other platforms.

On esp site we need a uart interface. Also Software uart is possible, because of the low baudrate. Protocoll is easy too...

All Software for an esp32 mbus is also linked in my first post. The mbusino is s very popular project on esp32 for up to 5 mbus devices.

I agree with your response Mbusino is an alternative to the industrial type gateways for a small number of meters and, again for a small number of units, you don't even need a UART as you can set very low baud ratres down to 300 bit/s - so a software solution may a viable solution. Meters do not need updates every seconds, for some older minutes you should even revent to 15 minutes
