Watch videos directly in terminal

I am trying to use gophertube to watch youtube videos directly in the terminal, i.e., using mpv -vo=tct, and without spawning a new window.

I created a ~/.config/mpv/mpv.conf file, containing the vo=tct config option. This indeed works if I use mpv to watch a local video.

However, when I try to watch a youtube video using gophertube, no video appears. I can only hear the sound of the video being played.

I second that – it would be great to either have mpv – when called from GopherTube – respect the options from mpv.conf or be able to set the mpv flags in GopherTube's config.
On the same note, setting options for how chafa is called would be great! That way, with "-f symbols", you could also see the thumbnails in a multiplexer like tmux.
