Bubblemap allows you to indicate a size that is not tied to the physical dimensions of the map. I am not entirely sure how is this useful.
More useful, is the ability to dictate a diameter or a radius in map physical units. In many places in the world, people speak kilometers, but miles are also okay.
What problem would this solve?
Search radiuses. The concept of searching spatially using a lon/lat and a radius is abundant and essential for many applications.
How should it work?
Either change the size attribute of bubblemap to accept physical dimensions (i.e. a radius) or create a new type of map visualisation that does just that.
