Description of issue

I recently enabled brew autoupdate while ensuring that I do not allow sudo access for Homebrew. However, during the background updates, I encounter a touch ID prompt asking for permission to update packages that require sudo privileges.

I'm curious to know:

1. Is this expected behavior for Homebrew?
2. How can I configure brew autoupdate to silently skip updates for packages that require sudo permissions?

I don't use brew autoupdate myself, but:-

1. Is this expected behavior for Homebrew?

It's expected behavior for the cask installers to invoke sudo when they need it. You'd get the same behavior if you downloaded and installed directly from the upstream sources. That's how you'll know it isn't Homebrew doing the sudoing.

2. How can I configure brew autoupdate to silently skip updates for packages that require sudo permissions?

If there's nothing about it in the documentation, raise an issue upstream to request this functionality, or just don't use --sudo and live with the warnings.
