Option to download a PDF after the extension reports that the PDF is invalid or corrupt

Some websites handle PDFs in special ways that causes the extension to report "Invalid or corrupted PDF file." when it is loaded. These files are perfectly viewable without this extension, and are also viewable using this extension when first downloaded without this extension, but sadly the extension doesn't give any way to download these files or open them without this extension when this happens (clicking the download button does nothing). One example is downloading a PDF from IEEE Xplore. It would be nice if the extension can offer to download the file when it thinks that it is corrupt so that it can be reopened using this extension after it has been downloaded.

Hi @palapapa, can you provide a link to an IEEE page/PDF with which I can reproduce this issue?

Also, can you provide your platform details (browser, OS and doqment version)?

Trying to download the PDF of any paper on IEEE Xplore will cause this issue. You will need an account to download them. I use the access provided by my university.

It may be notable that telling Firefox to always save PDFs instead of opening them in the browser does nothing. The extension will open when I click on the red button that downloads the PDF and it will say that the PDF is corrupted.

This can be reproduced on other websites. So far, I have only found another one, but it is the student loan website of a bank that requires a login, so you wouldn't be able to access it.

@palapapa OK, probably this is because the PDF is behind an authentication wall. I am able to see that the PDF request has some special tokens that comes with the login that are naturally not present when doqment requests the PDF. I'll look into how to tackle it best. Thanks for reporting the issue!

@shivaprsd Version 1.1.2 has some issues, but the latest version 1.0 was working 100%. However, I can't keep version 1.0 because Edge (Version 140.0.3485.66) automatically updates to the latest available extension. I'm currently using Windows 10 Pro 64b.

@satan750v-lang Thanks for the input! The missing translation warnings is non-critical; they are related to experimental features and they will go away once the features become mainstream. The actual error (Unexpected server response) is apparently related to the bug @palapapa reported, however it is interesting to note that it did not happen in v1.0. 🤔
