Summary

  • Improve calibration logging: use more precise percentage formatting (.4% vs .1%) and rename mean_group_loss to mean_group_mare for clarity
  • Add comprehensive tests for pure L2 and combined L0+L2 regularization
  • Update README with explanation of principled L0 optimization approach
  • Add design document for hierarchical penalty feature (future work)

Test plan

  • Existing tests pass
  • Verify new test_pure_l2_penalty and test_l0_l2_combination tests pass
