AWS server info

Peter Broadwell edited this page Jul 11, 2018 · 13 revisions

The server's public domain name is ec2-54-173-153-28.compute-1.amazonaws.com

Note that this can change if the server is rebooted, so if it's not reachable over the network, please contact Peter and ask him to check the AWS control console.

Stats:

It’s a t2.medium instance, with 2 vCPUs, 4 GB of RAM and 100 GB of storage. We can bump up these stats as necessary.

Access:

You can access the server as user ‘ubuntu’ (which has sudo privileges) via a certificate (.pem) file. Contact Pete to get a copy of the file, named ccing.pem, which you should place in a local folder, preferably ~/.ssh/. After that, you'll have to make sure that the file is only readable by you, i.e.:

$ chmod 600 ccing.pem

Then do

$ ssh -i ~/.ssh/ccing.pem ubuntu@ec2-54-173-153-28.compute-1.amazonaws.com

External Ports

Network security settings for the server allow external connections on the usual ports 22 (SSH) and 80 (HTTP) as well as the special ports 9000, 8080, 8000, 2222, and 3000. Hopefully that will be sufficient to accommodate the externally accessible services we’ll run for the project.
