Long ago the ancient prophecies foretold of a convergence of the magical energies and the coming of a golden age to the realm of Kizrakas. These prophecies were recorded on sacred scrolls kept by the high mages of the land. These scrolls, known as the Scrypts, were studied religiously for centuries in hopes that clues may be found that might foretell how to bring forth the golden age. The high mages disagreed on the exact meaning of the words and soon began to distrust their colleagues. They feared their colleagues would selfishly rise against them and try to take control of the realm to be the ruling party of the golden age. The mages bickered and soon the colleges of the lands split into five, with each of the major magical energies in control of their own portion of the realm.
The Rogonites were masters of flame and damage and true to their magical spirits were quick and quick tempered. Their stunning speed means their decisions are often rash and come at a cost of their defense. They take defensive strength from their strongholds in the mountains of the southeast where they can most easily draw their primal energies from the heat of the earth.
The Verdon are a large and powerful people. Druidic in nature, they take their strength from the flora and fauna of the western forests. This tie to the land makes them strong but in their strength they also take their time. The land is eternal and makes no hasty moves. It was here before all the races and will endure long after the end of the golden age.
The Belaen are a light-hearted and light-footed race. Their home in the northern plains teaches them much about gathering their strength in collected numbers. There are rumors that they take flight to the skies but no one has ever been able to prove this. Masters of healing, they are known for their generosity and kinship towards their fellows.
Celes took to the seas and built their home over the eastern seas upon the isles. Masters of the water, their magic focuses upon the waves and eternal tide of the mana. Celes are true believers of the balance and practice both magic and anti-magic. Without push there cannot be pull and so as they take strength from the mana they also take strength from the absence of mana.
The Ater are abominations. The other races will not even utter their name for fear of evoking the evil of their kind upon the land. Ater are single minded with the goal of controlling all of Kizrakas for themselves. In the pursuit of their goal, they take no second mind to consequences of their actions and give freely of even their own flesh and blood. If chopping off a hand and throwing it over the finish line will win the race, they won't even hesitate. Hideous monsters of death and decay, the Ater do not live but merely exist in the swamps of the southeast. It is best not to disturb their presence or you may find yourself struck down and risen again to fight in their ranks.
